The Empowerment program will serve Liberian women who have been victims of rape or abuse, teen mothers, and women who cannot afford or have not been afforded higher education.  Program activities will focus on skill-based professional development, including training in sewing, quilt-making, jewelry crafting, baking, and computer literacy.  In addition, Caring for All intends to provide funding through micro loans and grants that will allow women in the program to use past and present skills to establish businesses in their area.

CFA will also provide counseling for women in our community through trained volunteers and staff.  CFA sees counseling as an essential component of the Empowerment program as we seek to help women overcome the trauma they suffered during the war.  Volunteers who are professionally trained will provide direct counseling services.  Non-professional volunteers will be trained to provide peer counseling.  We hope to help Liberian women become stronger and better women for tomorrow.

                Women’s Empowerment Program

Elizabeth is an incredible woman that Caring for All met in Liberia and is a perfect example of why Caring for All is working to empower women in Liberia.  Elizabeth had children of her own, but as the war progressed and took the lives of friends and family members, Elizabeth stepped up to care for their children.  Whenever there was not enough food Elizabeth as a mother would share all the available food with her kids, taking only water for herself as her only nourishment.  She would go to bed hungry hoping that the next day would be better.

Caring for All aims to make not just one day but the entire future better for the resilient and strong women of Liberia like Elizabeth.   Caring for All’s Women’s Empowerment Program intends to bring pride back into the lives of women who have experienced tremendous hardship and enable them to become independent in their community.  Caring for All realizes the incredible influence and economic force that skilled and entrepreneurial women can have on a community and we are working to provide the skills and resources to spur that potential into motion.
